Today, I am introducing you a new way to make some delicious egg rolls.
I chose beef for today’s egg rolls. You also can use chicken, pork, or any other meat you prefer.
- Egg roll sheets( You can get any kind from your local grocery store)
- 1/2 Ib Beef tenderloin
- One large avocado
- 5 oz of cilantro
- 5 oz of banana pepper. (optional)
- Shredded mozzarella (optional)
Step one, prepare meat.
Cut beef into thin slices. We have our very own way to marinate it, making it juicy and full of flavor. This is recipe is from our mother, so it is one of our secrets that I can’t tell you! But you can stir fry the thin sliced beef with one teaspoon of soy sauce and one teaspoon of Hoisin sauce, and when the meat is just about cooked, add a sprinkle of chopped garlic, cooking for 1-2 more minutes. Just like that, you will have very tasty stir fry beef. You also can add some chopped onions when you stir fry the beef, to add a stronger flavor.
Step two, make rolls
Cut the avocado and banana pepper into long thin strips, put them on one egg roll sheet. Add cooked beef, cilantro and shredded mozzarella. Brush egg wash(mixed raw egg juice)around the edge of the sheet, so the roll will stick together. Start to roll the sheet with all the ingredients inside once, to make it a round tube shape, then fold two edges in to make sure two ends of the roll are secured. After securing the two ends, keep rolling it until the roll is complete. Then the egg roll will be ready to cook. One thing you need to pay attention to, when you roll the sheet, do it as gently and tightly as you can. If it is too loose, it will affect the texture. But don’t do it too hard, or the sheet might break. You will get the hang of it after a few tries.
Step Three, cook rolls
You either can choose to pan fry or deep fry. They are very easy to cook. Just put the flame on medium, wait until the oil is preheated, put the egg rolls on, cooking until they are golden brown. Your extinguish egg rolls should be ready then. They are so much better than the traditional egg rolls you find from other Asian restaurants, much richer in flavor, more meaty in texture, with cheese and avocado. It is just a perfect combination for a simple egg roll!
